Within the current Enfield Plan and specifically the Core Strategy adopted in November 2010, the site is designated under the Core Policy Section, Policies for Places, under Core Policy 38 as part of Meridian Water and as an area of strategic growth and place shaping.

The policy generally provides, amongst other planning objectives, for a mix of residential, retail, community uses and open space. However a residential element, up to 20%, will only be accepted as a minor use in support of a predominantly commercial scheme.

The local plan is currently under review with a recent examinations in public with amended policy proposals to further support the Council aspirations and ability to implement the wider Meridian regeneration and policy objectives.
